    Brunei-Australian alumni hold meet

IT was a lively affair at the residence of the Australian High Commissioner Mark Sawers in Kota Batu yesterday as the Brunei-Australian Alumni Association (B-AAA) held its first meeting for the year.

Hj Shazali Tan Sri Dato Hj Sulaiman, the newly-elected chairman of the Brunei Darussalam International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BDICCI), who was invited to share his stories and experiences during the recent first inaugural flight to Melbourne was among the highlights of the gathering.

During this event, High Commissioner Sawers also presented a prize to the winner of “Tell Ya Story” Australian Photography Competition held from June to August last year by B-AAA, Sarah Ong.

The final year student at the University of Melbourne won herself cash $500. As she is currently in Australia, Ong was last night represented by her mother, Siew Ong.

Meanwhile, Cath Doolan, Public Affairs officer of the Australian High Commission, informed that B-AAA is planning to hold a foodie event called Brustralia 2 but no dates have been set yet.

She said members of the association, all Bruneians that have studied or worked in Australia and Australians currently in Brunei were welcomed to the get-together that aimed to rekindle old friendships as well as provided opportunity to make new acquaintance.

The event is also opened to the public. For more information on the event or to confirm your participation, please email inquiries@b-aaa.org or visit http://www.b-aaa.org/.
